💭What is Art?

In the context of Quadrivium Academy, art transcends its perception as a mere creative or aesthetic pursuit. Instead, it is viewed as an integral part of a broader educational framework. Every form of art, whether it be science, fine art, craft, or any other discipline, is a manifestation of the Four Categories: logos, essence, tropos, and substantiation. These categories represent:

  • Logos: Genetic (related to the genesis of things), noetic, theoretical, conceptual, etc;

  • Essence: Intrinsic meaning, purpose, nature, etc;

  • Tropos: Methodological, structural, quality, relation, way of existence, modus.

  • Substantiation: act, creation, practice, application, realization, reification, etc.

In this way, art at mSLA and Logos Oriented Education is seen as a comprehensive and dynamic form of expression, creativity, and exploration. This logos-oriented interpretation bridges the gap between abstract and tangible, theoretical and practical.

In summary, at Quadrivium Academy, art is viewed as Holistic Art, which is a comprehensive, integral practice. Art is a holistic activity meaning at the same time theoretical, methodological, practical, and tangible.
