The decision to modernize the Seven Liberal Arts at Quadrivium Academy has come about due to the changing requirements of contemporary education. While the classical seven arts are fundamental, they are not entirely suitable for today's complex world in their historical form. Nonetheless, we acknowledge the enduring value of the classical liberal arts in offering a comprehensive, universal education.
By giving Liberal Arts new life within , we ensure that they remain relevant and empowering. The Modernized Seven Liberal Arts (mSLA) integrate the traditional universal approach to education with modern needs, enabling individuals to reason and express themselves without limits. This approach prepares students not only to acquire knowledge but also to apply it with versatility and depth in various fields of life.
mSLA emphasizes interdisciplinary studies and redefines the classical divisions of the trivium (dialectics, rhetoric, grammar) and quadrivium (arithmetic, geometry, music, astronomy). The trivium now centers around the category of logos representing studies dealing with logic, language, and comprehension. The quadrivium is redesigned to reflect the category of tropos concentrating on studies that explore methodologies, patterns, and ways of existence.
Modernizing Seven Liberal Arts allows us to retain the comprehensive scope of traditional education while making it adaptable and relevant for today's learners, equipping them with tools for critical thinking, effective communication, complex problem-solving, and much more.
